The Most Important Question You’ll Ever Answer

Life is full of big questions—questions that shape our choices, our beliefs, and our future. But there is one question that stands above them all:
If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?

The answer to this question depends entirely on your relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in 1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...” God wants you to be absolutely sure of where you will spend eternity. The good news is—He has made the way clear!

Recognize Your Condition

Have you ever been lost but didn’t want to admit it? Maybe your pride kept you from asking for directions. The same can happen when it comes to our spiritual condition. Before we can find the way to eternal life, we must first admit that we are lost in sin.

The Bible teaches in Romans 5:12 that sin entered the world through Adam and Eve, and as a result, every human being has inherited a sin nature. Romans 3:23 confirms this truth: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

Sin is any thought, word, or action that goes against God’s commandments. And just like breaking the law comes with consequences, sin carries a penalty. Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” That “wage” is not just physical death, but spiritual separation from God—forever.

Having Religion and Doing Good Works
Are Not the Answer

Many people try to bridge the gap between themselves and God through religion or good deeds. They think that by being moral, kind, or religious, they can earn their way to Heaven. But the Bible warns us against relying on our own ways. Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

God’s Word makes it clear: salvation is not something we can achieve through our efforts. Ephesians 2:8–9 explains, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

The good news is—He has made the way clear!

Even though we were lost and separated from God, His love for us remained. In His mercy, He provided a way to restore our relationship with Him. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jesus Christ came to earth, lived a perfect life, and willingly died on the cross as the payment for our sins. Three days later, He rose from the dead, proving His power over sin and death. Because of His sacrifice, we do not have to pay for our sins ourselves! Romans 5:8 declares, “But God commendeth [demonstrated] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Believe and Receive the Jesus Christ

Eternal life is not something we earn—it is a gift. But like any gift, it must be received. To have a relationship with God and a home in Heaven, you must stop trusting in yourself, your religion, or your good works and place your full faith in Jesus Christ alone. Romans 10:13 promises, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you are ready to make this decision, you can pray from your heart right now:

“Dear God, I know that I am a sinner, and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me and rose again. Right now, I turn to You alone for salvation. Please forgive me of my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
